Re: Auckland or bust by Xmas: Banks?

NZ banks are much of a muchness. I've been with 3 of the 4 Aussie banks, having started with BNZ opening my account from the UK before migrating. I moved to ANZ for better mortgage rates and cash...

Re: NHS pensions

Yes, that's spot on. It will be counted as income in NZ, but the NZ tax amount due will less any foreign tax paid on it.

Re: The bloody ball and stick game - Cricket 2017/18

Yeah, deserved draw from NZ in the second test, and series win.

England were gifted a chance to save the first test with two days of rain, but weren't able to show the same application in...

Re: British Summertime - All Change

Dunno, but I much prefer the longer evenings than having that hour lightness in the early morning. Clocks go back here this weekend :-( in the UK summer time stretches for a further month, last...

Re: The bloody ball and stick game - Cricket 2017/18

Yeah, England lost that match collapsing from 267-1 with over 12 overs left to 228-7, 8 overs later. Some arrogance sending in Buttler early, and the rest of the middle order awful. As it was it...

Re: Blinglish is a gone burger

If Labour truly mess things up, National have a chance at the next election, however given the ridiculously short Parliamentary periods - 3 years, almost always the first term NZ governments get...

Re: What are the best areas to live in around Aukland?

Yes, Howick area is nice area, but I wouldn't want to commute to the CBD or North of the Harbour from here daily. Auckland traffic is simply horrendous (worse than any I've experienced in the UK)...

Re: Meanwhile in politics

2 and 3 above sound fine. No.1 only ok if we have the infrastructure changes to reflect the increased popn in said areas, and routes from them.

Re: Net migration hits new record

I'd suspect that would be quite easy to achieve if as expected long term outflow to Aussie returns to the norm.
It's not immigration per se, it's the quality of it and destination, Auckland's...

Re: General Election NZ

Well NZ First are supposedly announcing who they are going with tomorrow afternoon. 50/50 guess, but reckon they'll go with Labour and the Red/Greens.

Re: The bloody ball and stick game - Cricket 2017/18

Yeah before then, this month NZ play a few ODIs and T20s in India, no tests though probably as well given the stuffing the Aussies and England have suffered recent tours there.
Speaking of the...

Re: General Election NZ

Simple to say that, but weren't they the last cab off the rank for Helen Clark? There's a limited amount anyone can achieve from being permanently on the opposition benches.

And similarly it's...

Re: General Election NZ

To correct myself I think it's 800,000 voted to date though likely to be 1 mil by election day. Also these votes aren't counted until from 9am on Saturday. Still think it's wrong opening the polls...

However given that apparently over 1...

Re: General Election NZ

Yeah, tend to agree on immigration, it's the quantity and quality of it. At the moment it seems to be the one thing driving GDP growth, though noticeably not GDP growth per head, which is little...
