Wrote to my MEP to request her support for this and received the following reply, which indicates (to me) that there is still a chance this will happen ...

Re: Benidorm

Unfortunately the Spanish are no better than the British when it comes to employing foreign workers... Our daughter spent a year in Sevilla at University there as part of her UK degree. She and her...

Re: Latest Car Hire Rip off

We use Goldcar regularly too (twice this year already, three or four times last year) and despite having our own 'stand-alone' policy for extra 'top-up' insurance (meaning we refuse theirs), we've...

Re: Benidorm Campsite , suitable for long Term ??

Many British people are convinced that it never gets cold in Spain and that all winter days are balmy, hence the push to do away with the 'winter fuel allowance' for British expat pensioners...

Re: Benidorm Campsite , suitable for long Term ??

I actually own a home near Denia (not far away) and have done so for the last 12 years ... I stand by my comments that it can be chilly in the winter (10 years ago it snowed and the A7 had to be...

Re: Benidorm Campsite , suitable for long Term ??

Re: Car Rental

I'll second that ... one hour is normal in peak season, especially since they introduced this 'credit card block' if you do not take the top up insurance, as this provokes many arguments at the desk!

Re: Car Rental

You DID mention Goldcar;), but we have found all the big names (Record, Centauro, Auriga, Sixt) to be much of a muchness in this respect. Have heard dreadful stories about Dickmans (poor quality...

Re: Car Rental

Wasn't me who was caught out, it was some friends. We are always very careful, having rented cars at Alicante airport several times a year since 2000... Just wanted to make sure that the OP was...

Re: Car Rental

Correct:p ... but the scam was that the booking was for two named drivers and it was the driver named second on the booking form that had a credit card. The booking therefore 'had to be reprocessed'...

Re: Car Rental

I should add that all operators require you to have a credit (not debit) card in the name of the main driver - some of our friends have been caught out on this one and told they had to make a new...

Re: Car Rental

At Alicante we have had problems with Sol Mar ... located furthest from terminal building and most unhelpful if you don't take their add-on insurance. We had to wait 30 minutes to return the car,...

Re: Was Disneyland originally planning an Pego in Valencia before Paris 'won'?

The developer declared bankruptcy owing money to the local councils (most notably Pego). If I were buying in Monte Pego, I would be very careful exactly where I bought (i.e. whether in the Denia,...

Re: Furniture stores around Javea

The shop in Benissa is called 'Martinez', if I recall correctly, and we bought a lot of furniture there 10 years ago. Looks like it is still open, but not sure what stock they have

I've just re-read your original post and if you plan to buy and rent out, you should bear this in mind, just in case it turns out to have an element of truth (which can't always be said for the Daily...
