Re: Anyone recently got their Parole Card (I512/ employment authorization card)?

At least you have your EAD/AP card iaink. Yes - fingers crossed. As i'm sure you know the TN technically doesn't allow for dual intent. I'm guessing by extension this applies to a TD. I think...

Re: B2 visa rejected

Well, the right thing was done in that regard, because if one gets caught lying on their ESTA application about a drug conviction, that's a permanent lifetime bar to US entry.

Re: B2 visa rejected

Interesting that she got a security clearance in spite of the U.S. misdemeanor. That would definitely not be the case in North America. You can't even get a Global Entry or NEXUS card for travel...

Re: Scottish Seafarer

Plenty of jobs in the Electronics side of engineering even now - particularly if you have any relevant software programming experience. The problem will be finding a U.S. sponsor for an H-1B visa or...

Re: Photo for a dv lottery prepared at home

As long as it meets all the requirements, and hasn't been digitally altered in any way, don't see any problems.

Re: visa fees

The I-551 is the Green Card. An "I-551 stamp" in your passport is a temporary substitution for the card itself.

Re: A way to permanent residence in USA for people who are told there are no wa

'America is cheap' is the biggest myth going, a bigger myth than "America is a dangerous place". It comes from a day when a pound bought you $1.90 US. It hasn't been cheap for Brits for years - I...

Re: A way to permanent residence in USA for people who are told there are no wa

Not to mention, an EB-based visa means you can work anywhere else in addition to the job that sponsored you for the greencard (and not fall foul of not taking the job that 'sponsored' you in the...

Re: A way to permanent residence in USA for people who are told there are no wa

TBH, this sounds like a massive loophole. Without your payment, the PERM process never begins, regardless of who gets the money you paid. I suspect a lawyer could argue that either way.
Anyways,...

Re: A few more questions, 7 years later.

Apologies if you've already heard this, but have you considered a move to Canada? I *think* with your level of education it should be relatively easy to do (been a long time since I did it, and I...

Re: Wanting to move to California - what can I do there?

Well, this thread is Festivus-worthy. Definitely "airing of the grievances" stuff. A microcosm of America for sure. Appliances. Who is it on here that raves on about Miele appliances? That's...

Re: Wanting to move to California - what can I do there?

Bingo, correct on all 6 statements. My "woke" statement which seemed to trigger referred to this.

BTW, I love Coastal CA - 4-5 days at a time. Live there? nope.

Re: Wanting to move to California - what can I do there?

Because it's in the movies. I suppose, the climate more than anything. Seriously, the innards (like closer to Vegas, tahoe innards) would actually appeal to me but the coastal area is really the...

Re: N400 Interviews - What are they like?

Re: Job offer and sponsorship - what's next?

Yeah, H-1Bs are pretty crappy for most of the reasons you mention but are often the only way many get to work in the U.S. and often the only route to permanent residence companies are willing to...

Re: Recent UK Graduate - Trying to plan ahead

The most obvious answer would be to find a job in the UK with a company that has a major presence, better still, head office in the U.S. and work for them for at least 12 months in the UK before...

Re: Basic questions about returning

In theory, you could lose your PR status the very next day if you'd shown intent to leave the U.S.
