Re: J1 visa - interview waiver

It depends on the local consulate rules AFAIK. You're probably best checking with them directly.

It sounds like you do qualify if you have flown on an ESTA in that time they would have taken...

Re: Job and life in Boston questions :)

You could leave the money in cash in £ once you sell now, and transfer at a later date. Remember trying to time the market is a fool's errand ususal.
Whatever you invest it in again in the UK should...

Re: ESTA with traffic offence

I think here we're seeing the difficulties of applying US federal law to the rest of the world.

If it was me and I had No Trace, I'd check the no box. My justification would be that there's no way...

Re: Offered a job, advice required

Who would sponsor you for EB-3 when you can immidiately leave them as soon as you arrive in the USA? Seems like two years of wasted efforts for them and very unusual.

No idea why, but someone they...

Re: UK US Difference

I grew up no so far away down the M40 - when learning to drive I was prompty dispatched to the magic roundabout. I now have no fear of them for life.

Re: Moving from UK to LA - should we go for it?

But the estimated growth that was lost during 2020 would have been positive, so the economy was much smaller in 2020 that expected... I agree not 5trl smaller.

Anyway, I hope the above posters are...

Re: Moving from UK to LA - should we go for it?

If one is moving for work, they have very little say in where they go typically. However, OP should probably look to at least visit before they move (get it paid for by the employer too if you can).

Re: UK US Difference

They do exist here in Jersey, and I hate it because no one knows how they work.

Roundabouts are better, but require a modicum of skill and patience which is often lacking.

Re: Moving from UK to LA - should we go for it?

Which visa are they intending to apply for? H-1B, O-1?

The rule of thumb is to take your UK salary, double it and stick a $ in front. So you'd want to be look at around $150k at least to have a...

Re: UK to US real estate agent

Partner or married?

Either way you will not be able to work, and have very slim chances of finding a route to a visa as an estate agent. Sorry.

Re: Best private schools for UK children in New York state

I agree that this wouldn't be common, hence why I asked the question so we can see more info on the details on the package. If they can only afford a $500k mortage, that implies a very low salary for...

Re: Best private schools for UK children in New York state

After some time outside the UK, you'll have to pay for international fees at UK uni and I believe no student loans from the UK government, even if you're a UK citizen. Others will know more on this....

Re: Best private schools for UK children in New York state

$500k is not a huge amount for a full size house for 4 with a decent commute to NYC (I assume Manhattan). It also varies a lot where in Manhattan as to which stations are nearest the workplace.

Re: Interview waiver, am I eligible?

For the interview waiver policy, you need to actually travel on any kind of visa or ESTA.

For blanket L1 I believe you still need an interview, there's a thread on here about the issues with the...

Re: Global entry - update info with newly obtained visa on arrival in US?

GE is the only way a UK citizen can get TSA Pre too and is...

Re: Global entry - update info with newly obtained visa on arrival in US?
