Re: Job offer

30-35k is now the going rate for a mid-manager role. If you had GCC experience then you could have pushed it up to 40k. Packages, especially in engineering/construction, have less and less extras. ...

Re: Moving to Abu Dhabi

That’s a crap offer mate. You will struggle to live on that here and will definitely not save anything. I’m assuming you gave them your current U.K. salary, which they’ve basically converted into...

Re: Dubai offer letter changed from 3 year fixed term to 2 years

As long as it doesn’t have an impact on your ability to resign. Some 2 year Limited contracts have a 45 day salary penalty if you resign within the two years. However, this was under the old limited...

Re: Moving to Abu Dhabi

It can be done. But you won’t be saving much and don’t underestimate the cost of flights for a family 4, days out and kids clothing. I’m in a similar situation and we spend 30k on average a month. ...

Re: Electrician who knows anything about being an electrician? DXB

Might not just be a case of combining the 3 live wires into the socket. Normally a 5 core cable is used for heavy loads so you may want to check the Db as well to make sure it doesn’t trip.

But it’s still a very good package and...

Re: Working in Dubai for two weeks for a British company

Shouldn’t be much of an issue, although HR might have something to say about it. But 2 weeks should cause any issues. From a Visa perspective you get a 30 day visa when you land.

Re: UAE Sovereign Wealth Fund Offer

That’s a great package. Packages like this are quite rare these days. I’d go for it. You should be able to live comfortably, especially with schooling covered.

Re: Job offer in Doha - please advise

Decent package, especially because they cover all school fees. That can be a deal breaker for some, see other posts on this forum.

I would push for more, you should always negotiate.

Re: Great offer in Saudi….but I’m a single gay man, help.

Re: Relocate from UK to UAE, all good so far, now want to buy a Car

Why not lease or hire for a few months. You can get something decent for 2-3k which includes insurance. Traditionally, it’s best to wait for Ramadan or head down to Abu Dhabi for better deals.
