Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Thanks for clarifying. It is weird because In just about every other case, resident US citizens and US permanent residents without US citizenship are treated the same for US taxes. The original post...

Re: UK state pension and USA social security

Re: uk dvd player isn't working? (not voltage)

The advice I was given that region-free DVD players are not sold in major electronics stores must be out-of-date, since it appears they are sold in some. But finding this out is not easy - none of...

Re: uk dvd player isn't working? (not voltage)

Re: Vernon, BC??

Phone an Autoplan insurance broker in Vernon to get an idea of what ICBC will charge. They'll want to know how many total years of driving experience you have, class of use, amount of liability,...

Re: uk dvd player isn't working? (not voltage)

Rather than looking for hacks that don't always work, or getting a converter that costs $50 to $90, it might be a good idea to spend the $50 to $90 on a new multiregion, multistandard DVD player with...

Re: Crossing border while moving to BC from Ottawa

I did that years ago. The US INS/Customs checked the trailer, saw how stuffed it was and decided they couldn't be bothered to pull everything out, which saved me a lot of hassle. They will likely...

Re: Tourist Visa Driving Rules

There is no such thing as a Canadian Drivers License per se, and each province has its own rules. While AB allows a year, the adjacent provinces, BC & SK only allow visiting tourists to drive on...

Re: Taxes in Canada. (and other questions!!)

Filing tax online results in a quicker refund. However it has the drawback that CRA does not have the receipts for many of your deductions and can come back to ask you for these much later, more...

Re: Taxes in Canada. (and other questions!!)

The amount of CPP you will pay in a year will depend on how much money you earn in Canada during the year, not on how much time you spend earning it. The CPP employee contribution for 2009 caps at...

Re: Taxes in Canada. (and other questions!!)

If you look at houses in the Pemberton area, be wary of anything that's in the flood-plain, or you could be flooded out sometime in the next decade or two.
