Re: Applying for UK residential mortgage whilst overseas

Yes, it can be done but will be more expensive (if you declare your intention to be non-resident). If you "forget" to mention your intentions this would be cheaper but is strictly speaking mortgage...

Re: Anyone Taken their TV back to the UK?

I have many times taken large and unsuitable items between UK and Middle East (in both directions). It is generally fine, but be aware that there is a small but irreducible risk of damage. In theory...

Re: Residency visa for a child in Saudi Arabia

It's pretty easy these days, apply to the Saudi embassy in London (or whatever city you are in) through a reputable visa processing firm, submit your passport and a few other bits and pieces, get a...

Re: I am a doctor moving to Riyadh

My compound-to-work journey takes 7 minutes total if I floor the throttle and ignore the speed bumps, and 2 minutes going the other way (door to door). So it is possible (and definitely worth it...

Re: Visitor visa for Saudi

I specifically asked British Airways about this last week when flying London - KSA and was told their internal visa notes system now indicates visas on arrival are available, so you shouldn't (in...

Recommendations for camping equipment in Riyadh?

Hi all,

I need to buy a big family tent or a large car roof top tent in Riyadh. I know about the Al Sanadi chain, but their tents seem very overpriced ($500 for a tent that in the US is $150) and...

Re: Current Riyadh Compound asking prices vs negotiated prices

Thanks - helpful tips. I hear 10% to 15% discounts are achievable at the moment - can anyone confirm this and actual amounts paid would be great? I know that a lot of the compounds are under-occupied...

Current Riyadh Compound asking prices vs negotiated prices

I'm considering moving out of my current Riyadh compound this summer as am still paying full price (300k SAR) and the compound is going downhill.

Re: Has anyone used Haraj.com.sa to buy a car in Saudi?

Thanks! That's helpful. I tried submitting a few bids on there, but it seems like the vast majority of sellers are either brokers, or people moonlighting as used car dealers. So not had any luck...

Has anyone used Haraj.com.sa to buy a car in Saudi?

So I'm looking for a used car in Riyadh. The usual channels (expatriates.com, compound boards and the Khueris Road market) are not working that well for me and I don't want to buy new. On...

How to buy a used car in Saudi

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been endlessly asked, but anyone have any idea of how to buy a used car from another expat in Riyadh? Any recommendations for a decent garage to get the car checked over?...

Hi all,

Any recommendations for a good (safe) hospital in Riyadh? A young family member has an ear infection and we need to get it checked out.

Thanks!

Re: Spec issue in KSA when buying new Jeep Wrangler Sahara Premium (2018)

Have you considered a Nissan Sunny? Reliable and practical with good street cred - although it might struggle on the really big dunes.

Re: Cars that have Apple Carplay / Android Auto

The 2017 & 2018 Saudi spec Pajero's do not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. I am fairly sure (but not 100% certain) that the 2017 UAE spec Pajero doesn't either.

Re: Saudi work visa

It can go either way I suspect, depending on what the caution was for, how much wasta (influence) your employer has, how much they want you (=how much effort they're willing to put in) and the mood...

The law is changing this summer so the penalties for expats can be even more than 100% in some cases. It can be a bit scary!

Re: Tedious HMRC
