Re: Christmas Day in Sydney

You've just got to hope this horrendous weather doesn't hang around- it's so unseasonally cold right now in Sydney it feels like it's about to snow!

The beaches normally have Xmas parties...

Re: Commuting from North Ryde

West Ryde will be your closest best bet for houses under $500 but even then your choices will be very limited to older stock or main roads.
I'd consider renting a unit/townhouse firstly and also...

Re: Property, Good or Bad time to buy

If you try to pick the bottom of the market in a cycle you'll never buy. Buy when you can afford it and remember that it's a lifestyle decision as well.
Good luck.

Re: tips...

I'd suggest Penrith as your best bet- nicer than St Marys and is the main centre for this area in the western suburbs of Sydney.
Best of luck!

Re: Sydney big houses, suburbs

Hi Punoo

You'll really need to check out newer suburbs about 50-60 mins from the city for that budget and compromise with 5 beds methinks. Try the Hills districts and also the Hornsby line suburbs...

Re: Moving to Sydney but where????

Hi Jay

At least you'll be going against the traffic working in Bella Vista, but there will still be traffic- make no mistake. Have you checked out Castle Hill at all? Lots of cafes, shops etc...

Re: Too Much Choice in Sydney Suburbs!

$500K is not going to get you a house in most of the Hills District suburbs- though if you look further afield at places like Kings Langley you'll have better luck. Far better off to rent first to...

Re: Terrigal

Hi Kaz

Like others have said, Terrigal is lovely but really too far for a Sydney commute. Reconsider other areas such as the Northern Beaches or Eastern suburbs if you want to be near the water...

Re: Advice needed re commute to Prospect, West Sydney

Agree with Gibbo here in that the Hills District is your best bet, though you could also consider the Parramatta region. I'd go for Baulkham Hills or Castle Hill for your money and criteria, though. ...

Re: Working as a GP

Hi Sarah

I can't help with Wollongong but the Upper North Shore area (Hornsby, Wahroonga etc) suburbs are a useful halfway point between Sydney airport and the Central Coast, which may well suit. ...

Re: Is Blacktown, NSW good place to live in ?

I've bought in this area for many clients, both home owners and investors, so feel qualified to assist here. Blacktown is very much a lower socio-economic Sydney suburb which has always had a...

Re: Buying in Sydney

Hi Trixie

ABC's link is a great start and yes buying in NSW is a lot easier than the UK, as we don't have to wait in chains, like you guys do!

Expect to wait the average time between agreeing...

Re: Is West Sydney that bad??

Western Sydney is a big place so its difficult to respond here. Penrith is ok- I have friends and relatives who've lived there for years (in South Penrith) and love the place. Also check out nearby...

Re: selling a house in Australia

Hi Welsh Heart

it's a big decision as not all REA's are equal- that's for sure. I use a list of questions for my clients who are looking to sell. Have attached so you might find it useful. Most...

Re: Sydney suburbs - best of the best

Your best bet would be Dee Why, Freshwater and Balgowlah for older (read: rundown) houses usually on busier roads for this budget. Manly won't reap you anything and even 3 bed units are going to be...

You're not wrong :D
Need about $3m to get started in housing in this suburb.

But I agree- it's a lovely place!

Re: Northern Beaches

Anywhere north of Chatswood on the Pacific Highway would suit for transport as you have both bus and rail ie: Roseville, Lindfield, Gordon etc but if you want to be closer to the beaches you'll need...

Re: Fantasticfurniture...anyone used them?

FF are cheap but as long as you know not to expect the stuff to last then thats ok. Ditto the stairs- be very specific with the deliverers as they often won't take furniture up stairs unless...

Re: Beaumont Hills or Harrington Park?

Beaumont Hills is full of new builds, much like neighbouring suburbs of Kellyville and Kville Ridge. Depends on what you like and your budget. For my money, I'd be trying to get closer in to Castle...

Re: Family Friendly Sydney?

Hi there

You really need to be more specific in what you want and how close to cbd or beaches (or other amenities) you'd like to be.

For a start check out the rentals on a site like...
