Re: FIFA World Cup

On the plus side that was an excellent goal. I did see Melbourne City play a couple of weeks ago and was impressed by Marco Tilio, hope he gets to play.

I'm sorry, your answer is confused and jumps about too much for a proper response. But certainly is not particularly fact based. ...

Re: Changing your government

Do you get all this from The Guardian? That paper is very unbalanced and has been undermining the UK with liberal left dogma for at least 20 years. It is trying to do the same in Australia. Don't let...

Re: Entry to Schengen countries from May 2023

Beware a gotcha that is ruining some UK passport holders trips to the EU: The EU do not accept the expiry date on a UK passport if it is beyond ten years from issue date. ...

Re: Poms and their sewerage

Surfers Against Sewage did more for UK beaches than the EU ever did.

I'm not sure what good outlawing the existing (inadequate) sewerage system would achieve except make a bunch of lawyers very...

Re: Finally come back after 14 years

heheh, it is true that there is better snorkelling to be had in Oz, but I had an enjoyable 30mins yesterday in Cornwall UK where I spotted some spider crabs, starfish, wrasse etc. without having...

I did melbourne to sydney on the sleeper a few times. it is cheaper to fly though. i enjoyed it apart from the time i had to share with a guy who brought a pungent curry with him for his dinner!

Re: Melbourne Or Sydney?

The sea is quite a bit warmer in Sydney.
Otherwise I prefer Melbourne, I think it has more depth & variety, especially if you are a musician.

Re: Probs with landlord after moved out...

in what way was the photo dated anyway - it's easy enough to change the date on a camera so it proves nothing.

Re: I DON'T LIKE LIVING IN AUSTRALIA BECAUSE...

I think that is fair comment.

I am all in favour of the thorough way they deal with prohibited substances.
In the UK it is ridiculously lax - probably in some short sighted attempt to save money....

Re: Starting A Melbourne Life - what area?

Yep

Arden St has a nice open air pool (not open all year round tho)

CBD is 20 min walk

20 min walk to the Age (well done ;) - it is the only decent paper in Oz)

Re: Why are Australian movies so crap?

"Malcolm" (1986) is a charming film. Filmed in Melbourne, soundtrack by Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

But ignore the PG rating if you have kids - lots of swearing.

Re: Teenager - return to UK missed GCSE's

Re: Teenager - return to UK missed GCSE's

How do you feel about subsidising any person from the EU who wants to study in a UK University (quite probably excluding a UK citizen from that place)?

I think that the money would be better...

Re: Update - 2 years back in the UK

sounds like an Oz holiday would be a good idea, you've already had the adventure of living here once so you would need better reasons to do that a second time.
