Re: Where to move to: East Coast, commutable to NYC

OP, make sure combined income is at least 300k, or I should say, that what I would want at least to move where you are thinking. Each person is different.

Be prepared to spend a few million on a...

Re: Pre-clearance negative experience

There is a hope some Canadian education rubbed off. Given his behavior though, doubt it.

Re: Massachusetts salary?

OP bailed some time ago I fear. However, as has been mentioned, if the job is tenure track, not tenured, then the move does appear to come with some significant draw backs.

Re: Prince Harry's new Job - what visa ?

No no, the renunciation to the US is meaningless. Much like the whole process, all smoke and mirrors over an extremely corrupt and incompetent system. Each great empire must come to an end.

Re: Prince Harry's new Job - what visa ?

I am sure the officers would have a good laugh with him whilst doing so, since the renunciation is meaningless

Re: Relinquishing Green Card

I think these are all valid. The SS payments for me would outweigh all of the above concerns. Re: reporting to IRS, I would suggest they hire a competent CPA and take the stress out of the equation

Re: Massachusetts salary?

Interesting insights there. I assume the kids college and property tax are a significant drain, or investments?

We have a lower total income than than you but managed to clear all debts and get...

Re: Massachusetts salary?

Agree with a lot of what Morse has said. I know Ashland well, and live along that same line (further West). One thing to add, so not even a critique, is that Worcester is booming and will be...

Re: Becjohnson00's questions - Tax help for recent immigrant

Hi OP,

I am sorry if it is obvious, I just couldn't get my head around your situation. Are you a UK citizen, who lived in the US, and now has returned the to the UK? Or, are you an expat, US...

Re: Transfer of money

I have used Wise to transfer money to an Asian bank, and also received wires from them (Asian bank) directly to my Bank of America account. The latter I forgot to inform BoA, and they subsequently...

Re: Massachusetts salary?

As a young bachelor I lived in a very nice neighborhood on 36k! I had room mates, no car, zero cost healthcare and no family. Now our shared income of 250k makes us 'comfortable'. Not even super rich.

That part slipped right by me. Absolutely correct, unless the OP is a seasoned world leading professor.

If their job offer is tenure track, that's fine, but much less guarantee's. Well, zero in...

Re: Advice for future B2 retirement visa for Florida

Noticed some of the twaddle about illegal immigrants being a drain on the NHS. In terms of total spend, its a drop in the ocean. OP is a Daily Mail reader who does not like to be challenged.

I...

Re: Massachusetts salary?

Re: Massachusetts salary?

I can offer some insight. My salaries have ranged from ~30k-200's plus. 110 GBP is worth far more than 130 USD in MA.

MA is full of big earners and our combined salary of 250+k means we live...
