Re: Goggle box- anything worth watching on TV?

I watched 'The 7.39' which I believe originally was a BBC 2 Part Series but was shown here back to back as a 'film' - the cast includes Sheridan Smith, David Morrissey, Olivia Colman and Sean...

Re: In the News items : New Zealand

That story is quite misleading (for a change :sneaky:) albeit that the do-gooder did wrong in lifting it from the beach or wherever they found it, it seems to me that the biggest problem is more to...

Re: Any Social Worker Expats?

Job vacancies probably haven't been posted much due to the Christmas shutdown; have another look in a week or two when everyone is back at work and recruiting for the new year. If you want public...

Re: I think I've made a mistake

Hang in there!! I am sure we've all been there Dibdab, the first few weeks are the worst, especially when you don't have your stuff around you and can't lay your hands on anything that is familiar...

Re: 2022 Movie Thread

House of Gucci https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11214590/

Cinemas here only just reopened after lockdown, so it was a real treat to go to an actual movie theatre for the first time in months.

It's...

Re: What are the odd things you miss with the shortages

It's become somewhat of a game to me these days to try find all the things that are on my shopping list; the baking aisles continue to be decimated and look like they have been looted, with little to...

Re: Covid and homesick

There is somewhat of a silver lining to COVID for me in that it has taken the pressure off and I am not having to deal with the guilt trip and make excuses about why we're not not coming home for yet...

Re: Covid and homesick

Yeah, the sacrifices we make for living in paradise. :hysterical:

I have seen it time and time again on here and we're all guilty of living in a fantasy world when planning to live on the other...

Re: Covid and homesick

Exactly! I haven't seen my family since 2016 and the time before that was around 2011; we had of course hoped and promised to do better than every five years but life, finances, work and other things...

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

I was looking at Singapore Airways around June and July (before UK Summer Holidays) and they were around $2,400 which wasn't as bad as I had thought they might be but not a great deal of choice.

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

Count me in as one of the deluded!! :yield:It was a brief but fanciful moment of madness; on hearing MIQ was no longer necessary for returnees I dared to check out the price of flights on Expedia....

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

Just when we thought we might be freed and safe to start making travel plans to see the fam in 2022 - looks likely we will have to delay for another year.

Re: ArekDeBoss's questions about NZ healthcare

Yes, I have been to Canada; no I haven't lived there for ANY period of time so I guess my advice is not worthy but when you put it out there that 'any advice is highly appreciated' you didn't ask...

ArekDeBoss's questions about NZ healthcare

A lottery depending on location - having read your 'Canada is a Scam' post, I really don't think NZ is for you. Certainly the grass is not any greener here.

Perhaps we should ask the families of the 73,736 dead Texans, if they have moved on.

ArekDeBoss's questions about NZ healthcare

It's fine in main city centres, but that's not really where we want to be in our 60s and 70s. I don't know how older folks cope elsewhere; we've been scoping out places we might like to retire to...

I moved to Auckland from London 15 years ago - can't therefore comment on London cost of living anymore but in those heady days we were never ever short of money - we went on holiday to anywhere and...

Re: Nurse moving with children

When you say can a Nurse live well on their wages - do you mean one income with two kids to support, or is their another income to factor in?

If it is just one salary then you will struggle big...

Re: Coronavirus

Jeez, do you ever miss an opportunity to have a moan; whoever could have guessed that a new system, such as this, would have some teething issues and be overloaded on Day 1? Just a little bit of...
