Re: Planning a move to sunnier shores

Sadly, not everyone who wants to get into Australia is going to be wanted by Australia and sometimes there just isnt a way in. If you've got £100k to burn then go for it. It'll be a nice...

Re: Planning a move to sunnier shores

I wouldnt be banking on moving from a student visa to a permanent one (have you got lots and lots of money?) and what are you going to do if you decide to start a family in the mean time? There wont...

Re: Travel Exemption to UK

Several people have got exemptions - not just for a "sick" relative though, more along the lines of "end of life pathway". I suppose it all depends on who and how sick - not sure that great aunt...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

APS generally requires citizenship but local government requires only PR as a general rule. If you work for an agency doing work for the APS then as long as you pass the security process I think you...

Re: Professional copuple moving in Nov/Dec - Opinions on cities

Dont forget Canberra. If you are looking for APS work then Canberra is the place to be. Weatherwise it is quite nice and seasonal and it's not a big city, more of a large town, but with plenty to...

Re: Irish Clinical Psychologist moving to Australia

I would think that getting supervised practice in a NFP would be quite tricky. Having a provisional psych is actually quite an expensive process for the employer with supervision and professional...

Re: Is 54 too old for a Partner Visa Application

Tell your kids to get off their backsides and get their citizenship by descent. You've been married a long time but it wouldnt go amiss if he were not only the partner of an Australian but a father...

Re: Australian/New Zealand Police

Unlikely in Australia unless police officer is on the list of occupations in demand. You have to be a permanent resident to be able to apply to join a state police force and a citizen to join the...

Re: Recognition of UK Psychology Undergrad Degrees in Australia

Only way you are going to know for sure is to contact APS and ask them. I was in the vanguard of fighting for (hons) equivalence with AHPRA and they agreed that it was, once APS said it was. But...

Re: Ayay’s questions about age limit for skilled immigration

It's been 45 for quite a while now. Sorry if you find the Australian people hostile, you'll get used to it. However, if you are over 45, as you seem to be, your chances are going to be slim to none.

Re: Moving from UK to AUS and need help

Nursing requires a degree to practice here - so how many years will you have to do to qualify then how many years experience once qualified? If your DH can get a visa based on his skills that would...

Re: Moving from UK to AUS and need help

That sounds a bit nebulous to me. If a company cannot find local tradesmen then they may be able to offer you sponsorship but that is a temporary visa and you may find that you are on your way home...

Re: Family of five looking at moving to Aus

I think you are going to have to compromise with more than a couple of things on your list. At first glance I would say Wollongong or Newcastle maybe. Or perhaps Geelong down in Victoria or the...

Having done just exactly that for my parents, I am determined that our planning...
