Re: IRS Exchange Rate for 2022

Think i used 0.83 from fiscaldata.treasury.gov for 12/31/22. (Was acceptable for certain forms per instructions.) I don't think the annual exchange rate is published yet.

Re: Relinquishing Green Card

Being a green card holder makes you as beholden to the US tax system as a US citizen. Abandonment of LPR status can also be subject to 'exit taxes' as much as relinquishing US citizenship these days.

Re: Massachusetts salary?

Part of me says this is too low, far too low. Another part of me says you can make this work. I've made it work on a lot less, but with zero responsibility outside of myself. The healthcare for a...

Re: L1A to green card

EB1C on the other hand, is probably more subjective than EB2 though. Sure, EB2 is more of a 'process', and of course the extra step with the PERM, but maybe more black and white regarding approval?...

Re: Status During Green Card Application

You can travel and re-enter on your L-1 visa, and maintain your L-1 status while waiting for your green card (I-485 submitted/pending).
If you travel and re-enter the country using I-131/765 you...

Re: Working for a US based company

I don't think this is right. You should be taxed solely in Canada as that's where you're working. Maybe self-employed?, so you would be responsible for your taxes and other contributions. There...

Re: Looking to move from the UK and Florida - help and advice please

Even if a path to immigration is found in this situation which seems highly unlikely, the immediate healthcare requirements (not to mention long term healthcare requirements for seniors) in this...

Re: Moving to America and very worried.

I think this has already been said here but looking at the way OP has interacted with people here probably explains abuse received on other platforms.

Re: TN-VISA - Fedaral taxes?!

You pay taxes to the US governments (state, federal, etc.) You owe nothing to Canada unless you are deemed resident by Canada. IF you end up owing to Canada CRA, you can take a tax credit with the...

Re: Visitors From The UK May Need Visas If They Have Been To Cuba

They can get passenger info from any plane that overflies their territory (by law i think). So an Air Transat plane from Montreal, for example.... but I don't think a flight from the UK would...

Re: Visitors From The UK May Need Visas If They Have Been To Cuba

But seems unenforceable, unless the question is on the ESTA itself.? The last time I went to Cuba (a long time ago) they didn't even stamp my passport.

Re: Buying a car in Calgary

Canadian insurance for newbies is astronomical. Might be a good idea to get an insurance quote before you even buy a car, just to see what monthly payments you might be having to make.

Re: Change TN visa back to a visitor Visa

You can hold more than one TN at a time. So you will have to enter on your new TN if you quit your old job, and it may be wise to state that you quit your old job (and thus old TN no longer needed)...

Re: Change TN visa back to a visitor Visa

Your status is what you get when you enter at the POE. That can be whatever is given to you, regardless of any visa, I-94 card or whatever that already exists in your passport. If you successfully...

Re: EAD and SSNs

Pretty sure the answer is yes, since the I-9 form accommodates use of EAD (I re-did my I-9 when I received my EAD and had to start using it due to my other status expiring).
Doesnt hurt by going to...

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3
