Re: EARLY RETIREE ACCESS TO SPANISH HEALTHCARE

Don't know the details (I can find out) but early retiree friends of mine moved to Spain just under 2 years ago and were able to join the health system without any particular difficulty.

Re: EIC Card nightmare

Exactly and EHIC's have nothing whatsoever to do with it so don't waste another second on trying to get one !

Re: Fined in the UK for offences committed in France

Something's fishy here because if they have the details of his driving licence then that can only really mean that whomever committed the offences must have been actually stopped and on the...

Re: Lost driving lincence

Not wishing to hijack the thread but a quick question.

I believe a UK licence has to be exchanged for a Spanish one if resident but does that similarly apply to all EU licences, I'm thinking...

Re: Van Hire UK to France

You can say it as many times as you like but the fact of the matter is that technically you will be regarded as French resident from the moment you set foot in the country with the intention of...

Re: BBC iplayer part 2

I wouldn't get too excited.

As I read it (the revised directive I mean not the DM's interpretation) the new regulations are targeted at the geoblocking of paid for or subscription services and...

Re: Importing a car into France

6 months/6000 km, the former is a matter of record on the registration document, the latter you can bet the farm that nobody will ever ask for proof of.

That said depending on what it is and what...

Re: Internet in French holiday flat

There are a number of factors to consider of course but as a technology 4G based MiFi is theoretically capable of speeds of 150mb and 4G LTE 300mb, in the real world that means 20mb or 40mb neither...

Re: UK car in France - anyone had this problem?

And in the case where he mistakes your 'helpful' flash as in fact being from the last vehicle - and consequently pulls in too soon and takes it out - who's fault do you think that would be ?

For...

Re: Linking CA and Paypal

I just added my CA card to my existing (and long standing pre France) UK Paypal A/C.

If buying in Euros I simply choose that method for payment.

Re: Car insurance NCB transfer?

The most recent UK renewal invitation showing the bonus in years did it for me.

It's years they really want to see not percentage because they can relate that more to the system here.

Re: Driving in France as named driver in uk

It's not worth getting excited about, the fact that a policy is in place and that she is a named driver on it means that 3rd parties are covered even if the T&C's are being violated.

The risk is...

Re: Driving in France as named driver in uk

One crucial question is are the insurers aware that the named driver is not UK resident, fewer and fewer companies will now add non residents to a policy.

Returning for a day every 3 months is...

Re: What exchange rate to use in tax form?

The only reason you need an average figure from your local impots is to see if it works in your favour, otherwise your income is what you received in Euros on the date you received it, simple really...

Re: Controle Technique/Re-registering UK car!

Some background to my case:

I bought an MGB which had been stored in a barn for a decade or more following a major wiring burn up, the V5 had been lost and hadn't been in the sellers name anyway....

Re: Riding a scooter in France

I bought a 125cc scooter a couple of years back and because I have A1 on my French licence (carried over from my old UK one) it was a simple case of insuring it and riding it away.

Re: Questions about changes to UK Driving license

Not quite.

You have to exchange when:

A. Your photocard expires (10 years from issue), or you lose it.
