Re: my criminal past

Happy to be loopy. Better than being a nasty smart mouth.

Had enough of this forum now, too many puerile people who think they are oh so hilarious to call people ugly and make fun of people whose...

Re: my criminal past

So you would rather see murderers let into the USA than someone who once smoked a joint? You're the one talking shit.

And yes people do come on here just to make fun of people, like you for...

Re: British passports

British passports have been machine readable for years. My last passport started in 1992 and it was.

Re: Can I bring my goldfish?.......seriously

That is actually a very cruel thing to do to a fish. I wouldn't have much respect for anyone who did such a thing.
Anyway I'm sure fish swim down rivers that cross the border all the time!

Re: moving away from UK - tax

Depends what you mean by several. I think 6 years is the furthest back you can claim a tax refund. If you leave work in March and get your final months tax-free allowance for that year, (Month 12)...

Re: my criminal past

Nothing to do with this guy, only about criminal records.

I have to say, I think the US has got it's priorities wrong in what it sees as serious and non serious crimes.

I really cannot believe...

Re: Total Chancer eyes US move: suggestions welcome.

You've just illustrated what I mean about the bitchiness in this website which you don't find on other forums. I could post a picture of my husband on americanexpats and would not get bitchy comments...

Re: New US entry-exit procedures from Jan 5

I think Brazil will be only one of the first. Most countries will eventually adopt the policy of tracking peoples' movements to and from their country. It only makes sense these days. I don't have a...

Re: Total Chancer eyes US move: suggestions welcome.

So I get mad if 'someone' (ie ray6--no-one else said anything) says 'anything' about my husband (ie that he's ugly). Was that hilarious? I think not. Let's see how he likes it.
Ray6, your wife is an...

That is dumb. The Air Marshall should only reveal himself in the event of a real security threat, not for some drunk woman. Surely the stewardess is trained to deal with that sort of thing!

Re: Dual Citizenship

Quite simply not true. She doesn't need to 'apply' for either citizenship. She had both British and US Citizenship at birth. The only way she can lose her British citizenship is if she were to go to...

4. My licence will only be valid for the time on the I-94? You mean I can only drive on one road? Anyway, I thought it was the I-95 that...

Re: Advice Needed.

It might be worth considering getting a job in the UK, getting a few payslips under your belt, then getting your girlfriend a UK fiancée visa. You then marry in the UK, get her UK spousal visa and...

Re: Would you feel safer with air marshalls on board?

Do they have to go to the airport to have the interview? That's a lot of to-ing and fro-ing!

Chancer

Unlikely you'll get a visa for more than 6 months unless you marry an American, get an emplyer to sponsor you for a work visa, or get rich quick.
However, the driving licence thing intruiged me. Are...

Re: K1 visa and dual citizenship

Well, mine was reluctant at first, but he loves visiting all the European cities. Last year we did Venice, Edinburgh, Nice, Amsterdam and in March we're going to Dublin!

Re: K1 visa and dual citizenship

Thanks, yes. I knew we'd both have to get, for example, the carte de sejour if we moved to France.

Re: K1 visa and dual citizenship

As I understand it (I could well be wrong) my USC husband (who has PR in the UK) can live and work in any EU country provided we are together. If we split, he cannot (unless he first naturalises as a...

Going to UK

Don't use a lawyer as you can easily sort out the visa yourself. It's just a (admittedly long) form to fill out. I'd guess that if you're going with no job, a couple of thousand UKP would be...

Would you feel safer with air marshalls on board?

I'm not totally sure of my answer. But I will say--they have them on El Al and when's the last time they had trouble with terrorists?

Ditto losing weight! A stone would be nice.

Try and pay some of my credit card off.

Visit a new city (we should make that at least--booked to go to Dublin March '04!)

Re: Help and advice please

If you ring the Embassy in South Africa, don't say DCF though, that's not the technical term. Say you want to apply for an immigrant visa for your wife (she will be your wife as you'd have to marry...
