Re: Me and My Family

You've used that phrase a few times - I guess it's a generational thing, but that's not really something that is said in polite circles these days :)

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Because, if we crash out of the EU with no deal, there is a possibility that there will be shortages of foods, medicines and fuel. The government's own papers (yellowhammer papers) confirm this.

Re: Me and My Family

Some people might consider that living for 3 years with a woman that hides the fact that she is the mother of 2 (possibly 4, not sure that's clear) children as not exactly 'near perfect'. Don't know...

Re: Renting in London with 4 legged friends.

We searched ourselves on rightmove, openrent etc and set up appointments to view. Ultimately, we rented via a letting agent, but we had also viewed ones which would have been rented directly from...

Re: Renting in London with 4 legged friends.

I have rented in London with a dog for just over a year now after relocating from Dorset.

I found this site useful for advice -

He's not appointed by Corbyn - the deputy position is voted for by Labour members.

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Jogging in nice areas, shopping and nice restaurants are things that would be pretty easy to do anywhere in the country, really. As for the late night stuff, all night gym etc, those are not really...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Canford School is still there and going strong - co-ed now. As you say, beautiful campus and grounds.

Agree with what you say about the immediate area by that house - although I would also say...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

One of the reasons that expensive properties are spread out is because, in general, land is very expensive in the UK - small island and all that. Therefore, almost by definition, a property with a...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Oh, for sure - it's incredibly depressing when the sat nav shows well over an hour to go on the journey and it's only 30 miles (or less) in distance! However, to my mind, driving to somewhere...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

We regularly drive between East Dulwich in London and East Dorset (quite near Bournemouth). It's a journey of 110 miles, takes approx 2 and a half hours - maybe 2 hours 20 if lucky or 2 hours 40 if...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

I wouldn't necessarily read too much into it - the UK has a very different housing stock to the US, so naturally you are seeing things that are quite different to how they are where you live. Brexit...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

It's not 1 hour 20 minutes, door to door though is it? You need to get from your house to the airport - in enough time to get through security. Then get from the airport (Heathrow? Gatwick?) to where...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Yes, I've seen that before, usually on new builds. You'll pay for it one way or another though - if the stamp duty is, for example £40,000, then the price is going to be effectively £40,000 more than...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Generally, forget driving to London for activities. Check out public transport instead - google maps is pretty good and accurate for the options. It will likely be longer/slower to drive and then all...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

What is it that is drawing you to that area of London? I think a lot of time, people choose where to live in London based on commute times to place of work, but if you are retired/working from home I...
