Re: Where to set up home?

I guess it depends on your current position and how open minded you can be.We jumped in, applied for husbands job after a “why not”, basically as far as the conversation went, ha ha! Then realised we...

Re: Brits leaving in droves...apparently

Sorry I say free but as in it’s not an out of pocket cost at that time. Out of salary is always easier for budgeting

Re: Brits leaving in droves...apparently

Wow well that’s a change in 5 years. It was free when I left and I was mid twenties. Unless it’s NHS based cause parents didn’t say anything about prescription costs being implemented

Re: Brits leaving in droves...apparently

Prescriptions are cheaper here? 🤔 I’m $5 plus $17 repeat fee... compared to the free in the UK. I claim back on insurance so it doesn’t really matter but definitely isn’t cheaper where we are.

Re: When to apply to New Zealand citizenship

Give DIA a call and they will help you work it out. Our paperwork went in 2 days after I was eligible and my 5 year point isn’t until December this year.

Re: Why did you move to New Zealand?

I wouldn’t say we weren’t secure in the UK, I come from an incredibly close family, we owned a house with a dog, had two very secure jobs with a good income. We made a loss on the house, thanks to...

But we wouldn’t...

Re: Moving to NZ, what would have done differently, what are you so glad you did

Best thing we did was bring our Labrador! Not that the intention was to never take her, but we had to take the tough discussion on what if she was unable to come.

Re: Citizenship dates

Apologies, I hadn’t realised you were also in the defence force? You must have had a different offer of service, maybe dependant on which force and the job. The website details are very different to...

Re: Citizenship dates

1. Why not apply?
2. Husband has to, it’s built into his contract for work. Every new contract or change at work they have to amend his one only to include “upon gaining citizenship”, so we do have...

Citizenship dates

Ive sent a request to DIA but thought I’d see if anyone else has gone through it.

Re: Visa verification upon arrival in NZ?

Online IRD applications will only verify if customs have actually forwarded the information to IRD. It doesn’t mean your visa was not verified, that’s all automatic. It’s just the details not being...

Re: Anyone working in NZ for UK-based company?

Your UK employer will have to be registered with IRD, have an IRD number and be registered for PAYE if they are to deduct your tax and pay to IRD direct

Re: Missing UK Telly choices!

Re: RAF engineer moving to NZ & ?join RNZAF.........any others here?

Regardless of previous experience you’d likely be based at Auckland or Ohakea for avionics, Blenheim is an option but more likely as an instructor. We did the same move and partner had 10 years...

Re: Emergency mobile alert test - 26th November.
