Generally there is an additional excess (can be very high) for drivers who are not named on the policy...but they are still covered, subject to any age restrictions you've agreed to etc.

Just to be clear about that, it's compulsory third party insurance...it ONLY covers you for injuries you might cause other people...it's not coverage for damage done to other cars, property etc...so...

Also if you are thinking about a WHV remember that it has a work limitation, maximum 6 months with any one employer...so it would not be an appropriate visa for a graduate role.

I would imagine the dealership will simply report an abandoned car and it will be towed away and impounded. Not a lot the dealer or manufacturer can do with a vehicle registered to someone else.

For Whitsundays you'd be able to park up in Airlie Beach and take a trip out.
