Re: Politics of Chequers, No Deal, etc

Similarly lame are the calls for a "peoples vote" like the 17 million odd who voted to leave last time aren't really people. Or perhaps just lesser people or the "wrong kind" of people. It's all...

Re: Politics of Chequers, No Deal, etc

They did. In the referendum. Which they got 48% of the votes in.

Re: Job Offer - what package to negotiate?

Goes from 2 weeks up to 6 weeks where I work. Depends on length of service of course.

My dad back in the UK chuckled obviously...but he has 35 days + bank holidays.

Re: Shocking story of US border abuse

Surely you don't even need to speak to them any more? Pretty sure the last time I went through I just scanned my PR card at one of those booth things they've set up and walked on.

Re: Android TV boxes

The costs aren't especially onerous where I live. Tack on 13% HST of course.

Re: Renting a car in the US. Insurance?

Indeed. When my wife was involved in a 100+ vehicle pile up in Michigan she basically gave the insurance details and that was the end of the matter. Always worth just taking the full fat insurance...

Re: brexit or not postal vote

Not voting myself. Can't register online due to being Northern Irish and I have some misgivings about voting as I have no intention of returning.

If I were I'd vote to leave. At a very selfish...

Re: 2 Litre bottle of Irn Bru in Toronto

Biggest size I've seen here is the 500ml bottles. Think Metro were looking $2.80 or something like that the last time I saw them. Worth every cent.

Re: 2017 Canadian Passport Renewal time increase?

Re: Buy a piece of US history...... huh ??

"Piece of American History" is a bit of a stretch but it'll likely be a valid way to increase the bids.

He can auction it if he wants to be fair.

Re: Census 2016

Same here. Basically it wanted to know the relationship of my wife and I and which languages we could speak. Took 2 minutes.

Re: Fort McMurray fires

You can probably forgive people for driving etiquette faux pas. They might not have even noticed the fire engine until they'd pulled out.

Re: Trump getting closer to be the GOP nominee.

For all the laughs and head shaking about Trump...people look at the alternative - Clinton - and then, suddenly, Trump doesn't actually look as bad.

That's how much of a joke US politics is...

Re: Query regarding health card (OHIP)

Overseas students come to mind. I'm sure they'd like to keep their coverage but I suspect there are provisions for that.

Re: Hydro price hike

When QC can run a hydro system far better than ON it's something to feel real shame about.

Re: IEC 2016

Depends on how secure or special the job in England is I guess. If you're working in the local McDonald's I'd imagine the decision is more simple than if you're an architect or dentist.

Re: Hydro price hike

My understanding is "Ontario Hydro" (when it was "the company") had a load of debt back in ye olden days and it was then broken up but the debt carried on and has been tacked on to bills for god...

Re: Those border security shows

I've found the UK ones to be the most disinterested on the occasions I even have to deal with them. Barely even looking up at you. Then again I have a British passport so I guess they don't really...
