If it was transferwise the other poster was talking about there are fee options on UK to US transfers now too. For £3000 the base fee is £12.80 if you do an online transfer from your bank yourself....

Reporting for 2017 year onward was changed to be required by the tax filing date in April.

However as he missed the April 15th deadline he gets an automatic extension until October 15th, so has a few months to get it done. Third paragraph...
