Same for us - $2.35 in April 2005, got between $1.97 and $2.11 when we moved the money over in lumps to buy properties. The only good news is the property prices shot up so I guess we shouldn't...

It might be worth getting a mortgage even if you don't need one - interest can be offset against the rent to reduce your tax bill, and if you get the right mortgage it counts towards your credit...

If you're putting down 35% you should be able to sign a declaration that is like a self-certified mortgage in the UK, we did it with a 25% deposit as non-residents, but we're paying 6% though.

Ours was packed on 26th Oct and is due to arrive in Vancouver on 20th Nov. This is Internatioal Moving Co and cost £7000 for 40 foot container.

We took the ferry to Nanaimo. If you think about it, the ferry is probably as quick, because you can drive straight on instead of messing about at the airport with check-in and security to go...
