Australia is more like the US than the UK, albeit a budget version. Distance plays a big factor in people staying in Australia as it is far more expensive to visit family and friends at home.

I have put on over a stone in 4 years, mainly because I eat when I am bored and I spend a lot of time at home being bored. Started to lose some by adjusting my diet and getting more active.
