Funnily enough i'm in water/wastewater design, and don't get anything near $130 an hour, it's all government work. And also from what i've heard today, the only way wages are going is down, following...

Yes it is, the best rates i've seen in the UK are £50 an hour in London on high end oil and gas projects, and there's not many of them. Bear in mind those getting $130 an hour will probably have 15+...

There's plenty of 40 yr old+ working in CAD, your problem is wanting to move to Cairns. There's not much of a construction industry up there, most jobs in Qland are run from Brisbane or site based...

Best off going in as a trainee to one of the engineering firms, they'll pay you a minimum of to $40k start off and the only thing that really matters in this game is experience

To be honest i've found Oz very progressive and the UK stuck in the past relying on engineers to design, then again you just have to compare rates of pay now between the two countries to see why,...
