Re: Land of opportunity...

They mostly reinvest those profits into other countries, so it adds little to GDP. In fact, the net effect is a large contraction. Every month, about $35 billion is subtracted from GDP just b/c of...

Re: Land of opportunity...

60% of its trade deficit is from oil imports, which does nothing but subtract from GDP. The US doesn't "use" its trade deficit for anything. It would love to import less oil and produce more energy...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Sprawlmart increases GDP by building facilities and indirectly by paying workers. The importation of products continues to subtract from GDP directly. It would only create GDP if there is profit,...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Starbucks does add to GDP beause the FINAL product is made in the US. The intermediate goods which come from abroad are subtracted, but there is still a net gain since presumably the price of the...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Not really.

"(after years, and after hundreds of publications)"

Nowhere does it say that I wrote it. Don't imply anything. After years=after years of study. Hundreds of publications=which I...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Go to the UF website and guess for yourself.

Honestly I do not have to make you believe me, by putting personal info on. Take it as it is. If you do not believe me, that is fine. Too bad.

Re: Land of opportunity...

I think you are just mad because you can't argue in economics, so you resort to an anal discussion on who I am. I already said who I was. Now who are you?

Re: Land of opportunity...

They are not contradictions. I started reading publications well before I ended my major. 4 years is enough to accumulate alot of academic knowledge no matter the age.

Re: Land of opportunity...

You dwell on non-economic facts.

Re: Land of opportunity...

I never said I published anything. I said "after many publications," which in my case means I've read them.

Re: Land of opportunity...

Avg. Earnings in the US for a full time worker is $53,000, according to the CPS. That's 20x China, probably, when you include all the rural workers.

Re: Land of opportunity...

I am indeed a student Professor (official in 2 years) who has posted more informative information than you have. What have you done? Say these hyperbolic statements which have more no basis?

Re: Land of opportunity...

Oil is the main reason why it has stayed high. Take out oil and it has really plunged. A way fix it would be to consume much less. A much less painful way would be to increase exports. Imports are...
