and can be long hours depending on the work etc, when the project is coming to an end, obviously not enough time left etc etc

yep in construction it can be six days, or alternative weekends etc.

in the uae if you were working indirectly for the government in the past it could take them a year to "approve" you, but hopefully it wont be that long for even the minor roles.
