Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Thank goodness for the written word. If you look at my post 1135, you will see what part of Brits claim I was answering.

Quite how that ended up with the claim that CJ2015 was told her children...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

So you made it up that she had been told her children could be stripped of their British citizenship. That's why I said it was strange as they didn't have British citizenship yet to be stripped...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

It's the EU that is causing these high figures. Most of the UK visas that lead to settlement have been shut down or tightened from 2010 and work visas from outside the UK limited to just 20,700. The...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

ernmm did you miss all the yet more changes to the immigration rules that I posted last month? Or any of the previous changes that began in 2010?

Or all the changes for those trying to use EU...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

I have just looked back on your posts and see that it is your children that don't have British citizenship and have Irish RCs. You are all Canadain citizens and you are British by descent.

Has...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

The highest court in the EU. the CJEU, had already assured EEA countries that their citizens could not use Singh to avoid their own immigratiion rules, this is why they have been able to refuse...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

An RC given to a non-EEA citizen in one country, does not allow the holder to live in another EEA country.

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

They will have to see if they qualify for an RC in the UK under the new rules that started yesterday. It applies to all those who haven't had an RC issued before 25 November.

New rules for their...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

It is what the Metock case was based on, as I just quoted, with the relevant link. Surely your "source" should have that reference?

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

The EU parlaimant has nothing to do with a treaty change. All a treaty change takes is the European Council (the heads of government of all the EU countries) to agree and the ratification by those...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

How will that work? They are meant to be going to another country to live, not to do that just to use Singh for the UK. Going to another EEA country just to use Singh, has been getting refusals to...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

If you aren't residing in the country whose NHS you want to use, then you can't have the birth on their NHS for free. Check to see if RoI will cover the cost of a birth in a UK country if you reside...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Quoting myself. I checked with some Irish friends living in RoI and they said they don't need to produce their Irish EHIC, but they need to show some proof that they are residing in RoI. Whichever...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Only if they use their RoI EHIC and only for treatment covered by that EHIC. The NHS of the UK country that gave that treatment will then send their bill to RoI.

Even the English cannot use NHS...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

You can't have free NHS when you are living in RoI and just visiting the UK. As said, the Irish EHIC won't cover your birth in the UK.

If you have your baby in Ireland, they will also have...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

You don't know that. If the UK leaves it will be up to the UK government to decide. Remember that this is the government who wants to protect the NHS, the welfare state and the taxpayers. To that...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

With a Leave result we don't know when the free movement part will end. Nor what will happen to those already in the UK under EU treaty rights, nor what they will be required to do/buy/lose. PR is...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Just be prepared. One thing the UK seems to do with changes under the EU/EEA, is that when they are in the UK's interest then they apply them to everyone already in the UK too. When they are not in...

Re: My experience of going the Surinder Singh route so far

Well in that case they won't need to have changes to "third country nationals" using the EU rules to get to the UK:p

I was wondering where Dave saw the 'new rules only after a yes vote' written....
