I had to do this to open an HSBC account I just went to a local Notary office showed them my passport and they signed to say it was me I think it cost me 7 or 8 euros.

Yes it did cause me some concern at the time as we do retain a UK property which is rented out. I need a UK account to deal with the rental and any repairs etc. HSBC current account sorted that issue...

I had a similar issue when Barclays told me they would close my current and savings account as not UK resident. I needed both types of account as we rent out a uk property so need to pay bills and...
