Yes Melbourne is the place to be. We moved 3 years ago from Scotland and I was very homesick until we bought here in Williamstown, a very pretty place to live and only 25 mins from the city.

Yeah, "lovely" is a stupid adjective I guess, but not as stupid as "good"!
I hate it when you ask someone how they are and they say "Gooooooood", how annoying!:frown:

My dog loves bodysurfing so Altona is good for her but now it's getting cooler (my barefeet suffer on the cold mud!), we don't go there, we go to the dog free area on the waterfront in W'town instead.

Hi, we're in Williamstown which has all your requirements except here they don't have Brownies, instead the girls and boys to "Scouts" together and there are packs around.

There's a private special needs school called "Katinga" I think, in Ormond. Our son's IQ was a bit too high for it. The private schools don't cater for special needs.
The schools close on 27 June...

Our (11) son has mild aspergers and in Scotland attended a normal school but spent most of his time in the very good "S.E.N" Base and we were very reluctant to move over here because of that.

If your child has learning difficulties (our boy is autistic) then don't use the Catholic schools as they don't have the funding for extra assistance that the state schools do...

Yes, the house prices are stupid. We rented foe a year and eventually bought a lovely 4 bedroomed home for $630 last Jan. The auction was a bloody nightmare though. Estate agents here are the dregs...

We live in Williamstown and everytime we visit anywhere else, I'm always happy to come back here. Because we're a peninsula, we don't have people driving through, we don't have any Macdonalds/Hungry...

The reason you hear more about Brits going to the GC/ Perth is because it's a mecca for them, whereas Melbourne has more Europeans, which is the reason we came here.
We didn't want to only hang...
