Looking at the Bank of Canada website the CAD average for 2010 was $1.5911 against the GBP. Potentially this could be even lower for 2011 as the GBP did not dip below $1.6 against GBP until March...

Great time to Buy the pound, Just got 1.59 with hsbc premier that will come in handy for up coming trips back to the UK. This is a 4-5 month high for the Canadian dollar.

I think the pound at $1.60 is now the norm. It has fluctuated around this level for the last 4 months. It has also been the most stable period at against the CD over the last 2 years.

What's happen to the pound? seems to have taken a right bashing in last couple of days dropped off from the lofty highs of 1.64 back to below the 1.6 mark again!

BP have signed 3 huge oil sand contracts in the last 2 years. Canada will be one of bp s biggest growth areas over the next 10 years.

I was expecting the interest rates rise too! Locked in my mortgage today 5 years at 3.89% before they deals start drying up! This rate could be a bargain in 2 years time!

Personally I think the £ has bottomed out! Should head back towards the 1.70-1.80 mark as we head towards summer. People are making big money out of these crashes in currency. Now all the big traders...

best rate for a long time I'd risk 50% now! Realistically how much higher can it go! there nothing has changed to strengthen the £.

looks like it!!! I'd be chuffed if we got $1.90 again this year. It's a bugger getting paid in £s living in Canada. Got to take the rough with the smooth i guess.

Looking at the exchange rate for the last 12 month the last 2 months have been the most stable fluctuating between 1.75 and 1.85 so give a good chance of achieving 1.80 in the short term near future...

I transferred 8k across today at 1.7925 been watching for a couple of months. Think that's as good as it going to get for a while. Im not sure what needs to happen to get the rates up to 1.85+

Not sure usually is, but it might be seen as a step that there trying to improve things so might actually seem to be a positive step for the £

what make you think it will reach 2.05? i doubt we'll see $1.90 again for a long while? The CD is still strengthening against the £ even though the Oil price continues to fall which everybody keeps...
