Re: Exchange rate

Quick question, is there a reason why the GBP/CAD rate generally looks better earlier in the day for buying CAD. Is it something to do with when markets are open and the Canadian business day...

Now decided just to bring some and get using it,...

Re: Exchange rate

Unfortunately there isn't a "right" answer to this and depends on the day and the poster as to what view you get on where the FX rate is going. So look at all factors involved in renting and work...

Re: Exchange rate

I did option 3 towards the end of last year when the rate was around 1.7ish and I was was hoping for what I thought was a reasonable 1.85 by summertime. I figure I could afford the payments on a...

Re: Exchange rate

We sold our house about 5 months ago now, brought over most of our cash pretty quick at ok rates for the current climate - 1.8. Now holding our breath and running a small credit line as it's better...

Re: Exchange rate

Yeah - good advice, but like my morning trading thing, I wasn't very good at following it. It's definitely been painful watching it over the last few weeks as I've been bringing my money over in...

Re: Exchange rate

Thanks (and thanks for the bank reply too )

One thing I have noticed as I've babysat the rate over the last few weeks is that in the morning (Canada time) the £ is generally stronger than...

Re: Exchange rate

Can somebody go and give the FX rate a good slap.

I've brought over 2/3 of my money at a rate that works out to be about $1.81 to £1, not great but right now not bad either.

I...

Re: Exchange rate

I was hoping for a post by TheBull not TheBear ;)

Bringing money over to put in our house to reduce our mortgage so longer term benefit of the money being here can offset the worse rate.

I...

Re: Exchange rate

Rate making a bit of a move for the good so far this week. Not sure if it will make the heady heights of 1.9 from 1 month ago, but maybe it will break 1.85.

Any smarter people out there got a...

Re: Exchange rate

I just signed up to the OANDA system too as it had a rate on the front page of 1.9134, best I've seen out there with only £15 commision.

Edited - as I've now been able to get a quote on there...

Best I've seen for actual trading while watching a couple of sites I'm set-up on is 1.8899, anyone actually seen it at 1.9 in the wild?
