Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

The quarantine requirement isn't anything to do with family, that's been lifted anyway for those who are fully vaccinated....

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

It says you can't leave your place of quarantine unless for specific reasons (travelling on to another place isn't one of them), so I can't see how you can move to another location personally.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

To be fair, you did ask if you'd still need to stay in a hotel and didn't ask for others experiences?!? So it did seem you didn't know.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

Sorry to say, but I don't think they will. PR's have been able to return to Canada at any time, so there is no reason why they'd give leeway on the residency obligation IMO.

I agree with the...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

It's certainly one way around the Canadian quarantine requirements - but rather risky, convoluted and expensive!

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

Yup, the ban has just been extended to 31st March. They can still leave though, it's only new applications made from outside the US that are the issue.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

They've also banned a lot of work based visas, regardless of country of origin (again, unless the applicant comes under an exemption).

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

No, it's not nationality based. A Brit that's been in Mexico for the previous 14 days can enter the US. A Mexican citizen that's been in the UK for two weeks couldn't.

So you can't enter the US...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

It wouldn't surprise me either, so many other countries are already doing it. A friend of mine who lives in Singapore has had to pay thousands to stay in a government approved hotel for her...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

That sounds very specific to Russia, I've never visited there. Never required anything like that for any other country I've visited thankfully.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

What countries have made you do that? I've had visas for probably around 25 countries over the years and have never had to visit an embassy.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

Not sure which of us you're referring to, as it seems all mods that have posted have had the same response to your posts, but just to say that this isn't the way things work on BE. We are forum...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

They went on and off it a couple of times, so weren't all on there the whole time. They were certainly on it for the last list of occupations in 2013 though, and the early ones - not sure about the...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

I wasn't including any managerial roles, although I have to confess I'm not au fait with any IT related jobs, so may have it wrong and perhaps some aren't actually IT.

But these were the 5 I was...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

J isn't in Vancouver anymore, he moved last week.

IT has always been a focus for Canadian immigration, at least during the time I've known. If you look back at the original list of 38...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

I'd say you've been lucky rather than Bats being unlucky (I shall ignore your other scenario suggestion) . We have two friends who've died of it, both healthy men in their 40's with no underlying...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

So you can afford to pay the $750k fine if caught, but can't afford to rent a house?

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

He and I will have to respectfully disagree on that one. I feel the opposite about the UK government's lifting of quarantine for certain countries, I wish they'd implement it for all.

Agreed.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

Of course it is, but even more of a nightmare to lose somebody you love from Covid-19, particularly if that was wholly avoidable and only due to somebody ignoring the rules. Relaxing, eating delivery...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

Testing would be completely pointless anyway IMO. It would work for those who already have Covid-19, but if you've caught it on the flight over then how is that going to help? You wouldn't test...

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

What do you mean you're 'emotionally unable' to comply with the quarantine?

A jail sentence would surely put your potential job and PR at risk more than just waiting a while or quarantining as...
