You don't need any 'residential ties' to maintain PR, you can still maintain it even without a driving licence, bank account etc. Yes, it's purely physical presence in Canada, no employment...

Ah, I see. I assumed you'd be spending all of your time off in Canada, so would be resident there, you can't pay tax there if you don't live there. You also won't be paying tax in the UK though,...

You’d have to pay your taxes in Canada anyway once you’re resident there, you’ll no longer be tax resident in the UK.
