Generally Aussies do prefer you to be on the ground here first. They like to take ages making decisions, but then want you to start work yesterday.

I'm sure NZ is the same as Australia in this, so you probably already know it - glossy real estate photos can often translate into run down shacks in very undesireable suburbs, so do your homework...
