newman has almost certainly put the tin hat on recruitment for a while - the staff left in QAS are hanging onto their jobs by their fingertips at present according to the guy who now works shifts...

Major freeze on Queensland Govt jobs as a result of this weeks election, so I'd be wary of holding out too many hopes in the QAS direction for a while :(

As far as I know Control Room staff for QAS and QFRS are Queensland Public Servants. The Qld Govt will employ you as long as you have a valid visa, although if you are on a temporary visa you can...

Not as many temp contracts around as there used to be, but you can still find them in everything from Admin to Project Officers. Any role with a temporary contract is open to temp visa holders - you...

If you come on a Spouse Visa you can work for Emergency Services, but the type of work you can get depends on whether you are on a temporary or permanent visa. If you have been together for 5 years,...

Have a look at www.yellowcab.com.au
There is a fare calculator on there - it reckons only about $18.50 from Ormeau to Pimpama, so can't be all that far. I don't know Pimpama at all so don't know...

You can definitely get a taxi there, from the nearest station if necessary. Not something that would occur to QAS, after all the main Fire training academy (same Govt Dept) is also totally...

Yep, it gets blocked occasionally but don't have a problem with it at present. Mak sure you use the link to go directly to the forum, not to the main site.

The practice of giving you the questions to read beforehand is standard for Queensland Govt jobs. You get a chance to make notes beforehand and can take those notes into the interview with you :)

Hi Gary,
Yes, they probably would see it as not being totally honest if you state you have 3 years experience when you only have 2. Check the wording on the form - it may say something like this...
