Hope you are not making those mashed potato's too thin, as in drink through a straw? Firm & fluffy is the way to cook them.

I do like turnips, julienne (but not too thin) & cooked in the turkey...

We celebrated Thanksgiving in UK, when my USC wife lived there. One year my mother-inlaw, flew in from NYC.
I embrace, every USA holiday, why not. When in Rome.
