Re: Exchange rate

Look at this article when Gordon Brown said in 1997 that he would not allow house prices to spiral out of control. Hardly gives confidence in our "leadership"

Re: Exchange rate

Yes, I agree, it is not for everyone. I would never put the money from my property into the markets. Regarding investing in the year 2000, if you bought the blue chip dividend stocks, these dividends...

Re: Exchange rate

Good move, and, I hope you have dividend stocks so that you can reinvest on the dips. I cannot understand why more people do not follow your example. Here are the facts for the past 25+ years...

Re: Exchange rate

I am not sure if a new government can turn it around, anyone leaving the UK now is taking a real hit. However, in the early 1990s, Canadian government debt was spiralling out of control and this was...

Re: Exchange rate

Do you know who offers the best exchange rates? The best I saw at the time you mentioned was around $1.68 from some of the currency exchange companies.

Re: Exchange rate

I am not convinced that countries such as the US, UK, and Canada are the countries of the future given their aging populations and loss of manufacturing. Maybe Canada will do okay because of their...

Re: Exchange rate

It is really too bad for anyone leaving the UK, they are going to take a hit at the moment. I wonder how this is affecting the property markets in places such as Spain?

Re: Exchange rate

Unemployment is still a major issue and, in Ontario, the unemployment rate is more than 9%. Raising interest rates will slow down the construction industry which seems to be one of the few areas that...
