We drove a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass from New York City to Portland Oregon ... the only cars I'd ever driven before were a mini and a half-timbered Morris Minor.

First time I bought gas in the US, I filled the tank for $4.20... 35 cents a gallon.

Definitely true. When we last lived in the UK, we averaged 6,000 miles per year. (One car, two young children, no driving to work.) We moved to Boston.. again, we did about 6,000 or 8,000 miles...

$3.70 here. It's always been way high in Northern NY, but higher than Alaska?? :ohmy:
