Has there been anyone who has left QAS but returned to work for them at a later date but in a different area?
I take it you have to go through applying from the start again?

I felt exactly the same and that was the reason i returned to UK last year. I enjoyed OZ but the job made me pack my bags after 8 months.

Just to let new applicants know I noticed the recruitment info on QAS website
states the labour agreement ends in May 2010 in regards to visas.
not sure if they intend to extend it...

You have to shortlist three but this is 3 areas and you will not know where this will be in a particular area until you start. I think you are told what area you are going to when you get job offer....

had to have criminal check and medical form done then. didnt do these with application

After receipt of application it took approx 6 weeks for it to be approved. initial email wassent 13 march and approved on 27th april via email.
dont worry i suppose everyone is different
