UK banks generally advertise the net rate. If you are a none resident in the UK and have no taxable UK income yo can comlete a form from your UK bank to ahve the interest payed tax free.

You will probably earn more interest in the UK. Can't predict the exchange rate, but surely it can't get any worse over the next year.

Its not just a few cents. Some people are changing all the equity from their house, savings, all their liquidated assets.

This is not tourist money we are talking about....it is thousands of...

I read somewhere that the rates would be better towards the end of the year. Could be worth waiting if you can.
