This is my first experience of a Canadian winter. By all accounts it has been long and snowy but has only got really cold a couple of times (-30 ish)

Very happy so far with my time at Loblaws, the winter has been a challenge at times, I'm pretty sick of it now, hopefully warmer weather is round the corner.

If you can get that stuff then it can't hurt to bring it.
Some places ask for references but they're not a requirement.

I stayed at the Ramada Downtown, Loblaws arranged the booking and got a reduced nightly rate but it's down to you to pay the bill. Bring plenty of cash, you will probably have to pay for a week in...

You will be met at the airport and taken to a hotel (if you have not already arranged accommodation.) You are responsible for the bill. Not sure which hotel they're now using but Loblaws usually...

My approval letter came in an email, never got anything thru the post from the Embassy.

Timescale - Who knows how these places work, I think mine took 13 weeks!

You get your work permit from immigration when you land in Canada.

You get a letter of recommendation from the Embassy in London to give to immigration.

Should be OK to apply to the Embassy with the one you have, but get a new passport before you arrive. Will save you a lot of hassle down the line.

Well Done russjp congrats.

Big Truck, Loblaws do have trucks based in Calgary. The work from there is all currently to Alberta so wouldn't qualify as long haul for an LMO.

As I understand it, to the LMO people Long Haul means Cross Border, or Inter Province.
As the Loblaws job encompasses Inter Province work then it does qualify for LMO & PNP if you wish to take that...
