It's anyones guess whether the loonie will remain high against USD but it is causing concern as it could be harming potential economic growth.

I cannot offer any advice regarding where to invest...

I would have thought that both those figures are wrong. This is usually more accurate to what I normally get http://www.forexdirectory.net/gbp.html

The rate nearly always drops towards evening...

It's something to do with the announcement last week that the recession is over in the UK. I have been trickling small amounts through since then so that I always get a better rate than the one...

I wouldn't ever deal with moneycorp again after they really screwed up one of my transactions by taking FOREVER :frown:

Totally agree! I have been using HSBC for transfers for years as I have income from the UK. It used to take two business days for the transfer to take place but now happens immediately.

The US government has bailed out Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to the tune of $200bn which has caused share prices to go up in the UK (and around the world). Let's hope this helps the exchange rate too.

It's because there was a lot of bad news yesterday, inflation rising and utility companies applying to hike up their rates as well as all that other stuff about house price falls.

You can also blame Northern Rock for the situation. They were always considered to be 'rock solid' and this recent event has shaken a lot of peoples confidence.
