Yet another thought. Although my job is sorted, the plan was for my wife to pick something up when we get over there. There's no rush for her to find something, we'll have plenty cash for 3 or 4...

Thanks for that Tony. We've had a definite offer on the house (the same day it went on the market) so we're very tempted by the 457 route. Only thing is, once it's been granted how long is it valid...

That's the decision I need to make in a nutshell. Like I mentioned, 457 means we get over there quick, avoiding the local secondary school (which is genuinely at the very bottom of the UK league...
