Or, like I said earlier, moving from the UK to Canada (or USA) affords Brits a one-time cashing-in opportunity to buy a "better" lifestyle, which is all but impossible to do in the other direction....

I agree that it will impact a very small number of selected drinks (a chav tax, perhaps? ;) ) but overall the impact will be negligible. I think I recall seeing a forecast that a 40p minimum...

I'm saying that "opportunities for the kids" is a lame excuse to move countries. If you don't think your kids have opportunities to do well in the UK, but do in Canada, then you're kidding yourself....

I bet that the majority of the Canadian population live nowhere near mountains, and have precious little access to wilderness. Not so in the UK.
