Congrats!!

We're still in the UK - going out in March for a 3 week hol so I can get visa stamped then back to await selling the house. Hope everyone else is doing ok!

2 days, but she did put the application fee in unmarked £20 notes together with the forms ;)

heh - you confused me there!

We're just trying to sell the house at the moment, if it doesn't go we might just have to fly out to get the visa stamped and come back till it does... :(

We're still on track for a February departure - house is on the market now (!)

We had pretty much everything that was photocopied certified - bank statements, marriage certificate, mobile bills, drivers licence, NI Card, passports etc Solicitor that did it was really good too;...

I got my visa granted the week before my honeymoon, I just let them know what date I would be back and that I would send my passport in then. It took a week for them to stick the stamp in and post it...

Heheh I drank so much water before driving down for the medical - I had to run in and scream at the receptionist for a specimen jar and directions to the nearest loo as soon as I got there!

I had to wait a week between x-ray and medical in Bristol (apparantly to give the x-ray people chance to post it to the medical people). I guess if you are getting them both done in the same building...

Yay! Got my passport back with the visa sticker in it! They actually tried to put it through the door yesterday when I was in the bath so I didn't hear them dammit!

I think there are quite a few agents that post on these forums too which helps!

http://www.firsthome.gov.au/ has some info on the first home owners grant - although it could be that some States...

Yeah, I think unless you have kids together you'll only be able to get the temporary visa initially. Regarding the fee - we paid £580 (Yay credit card!)

Thx Penky! Yes I get a permanent visa because I've (finally!) proved we've been in a de facto relationship for 5 years.

For the temporary visa I think you only have to prove 12 months
...
