For a spouse visa you have to be in a de-facto relationship for at least 12 months. So living together, sharing financial and emotional responsibilities etc. Doesn't have to be 7 years, just one...

I know, it's a bit of a nightmare isn't it. Took me ages to work out ALL of the times I've been out of the country over the last 10 years! That was quite a list.

Thanks! We don't get married till June, so it's all still being planned! Then hoping to move to Brisbane soon after the wedding. It's going to be a busy (and expensive!) year next year!

Yeah I think you get 12 months from whichever is earliest - the date of your police check or your medical. (I hope I'm right thinking this, as I'm about to have my medical and send in for my police...
