Re: Land of opportunity...

Most sidewalks are socialized but I guess most Americans don't walk anywhere :p

And if you want to sue your doctor the case will be overseen by a socialized judge in a socialized courtroom.

Re: Land of opportunity...

Phrase it how you choose, but the fact that HIPAA rules don't cover individual policies is just one example of the "inherent biases" that exist against individual policies.

Which is why I am...

Re: Land of opportunity...

McCain is proposing to remove the tax subsidy to employer-provided healthcare (good, imo) and give individuals a tax credit instead (also good). The problem is he wants the credit to be $2500 per...

Re: Land of opportunity...

I think most people can see the difference between anecdotes of the type that Tracy brings up (exacerbated in her case by the third hand nature and unknown vintage of them) in each and every...

Re: Land of opportunity...

There have been studies that indicate that simple things like a longstanding relationship between doctor and patient have a positive impact on health outcomes. Makes logical sense to me in that the...

Re: Land of opportunity...

"America love it or leave it"

The fact that some of us have a vested interest in this country is precisely why we are so adamant that the healthcare system here is broken and needs...

Re: Land of opportunity...

And what's more, the government is giving company "x" a tax break in order to provide you with an effective monopoly insurer in the form of company "y". This is one thing where McCain is suggesting...

Re: Land of opportunity...

When you add in the cost of patients' time dealing with billing issues, the US spends as much on healthcare administration as the UK does in total for healthcare. It really is a truly staggering...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Indeed, anecdotes are a terrible way on which to base debate, but that's exactly what happens each and every time an attempt is made to even discuss reform of healthcare in the US. I will guarantee...

Re: Land of opportunity...

It's the one thing that would make me leave the US. In almost every other respect, I feel pretty positive about this country.

Unfortunately, I agree. Too many deep-pocketed vested interests in...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Vested interests in the healthcare industry and their political lap-dogs have done a fantastic snow-job on the American people, imo, by convincing them that "socialized medicine" would be far worse...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Re: Land of opportunity...

Also, you presumably know...
