Do you know the actual visa they hold? Usually a number like 189 or 190. Again that will be on the visa grant notice or VEVO.

The airline should have contacted the 24 hour service before now.
Either there is an issue with the electronic system or his visa was granted more than 5 years ago.
Has he checked on VEVO online...
