when i said despite rate hikes, that is a huge sign of the trend. Rate hikes usually strengthen a currency, all part of the carry trade, since Bank of Canada started hiking the Loonie has weakened...

I would agree the trend is definitely up, and that is despite the rate hikes from Bank of Canada.

Watch China very carefully, panic over there will cause Loonie to get killed.

FX markets are only used to hedge exposure, therefore if other markets are low on volume and more importantly open interest (measure of open positions on exchange based products), then there is less...

the industry term is a retracement....look for key retracement levels at 33%, 50% and 66% of the move.

Yes, Labour just flooded the market with new debt....also everyone now saying that Bank of England have to cut another 100bp (1%) very soon. All makes UK a less desirable place to invest.

Why not quote the dates on those and then you can look at the major market moving factors that have happened since then....like pretty much half of the banks in the western world being bailed out or...

Alan, agree entirely in 13 yrs of trading never seen anything like this. Graft your arse off for weeks nicking a bit everyday then 1 frigging mistake in one nasty move ends up costing you everything...

Please be very very careful. You have been lucky and caught a move in your favour. This is due to the rumours that the Bank of England may cut by 100bp(a full percentage point) on Thursday.

we expected 50bp cut today and be done with it. What they did was 25bp now and warn of more in the future. This gave CAD$ a boost, that decision was made at 2pm. Let me tell you from experience...

With the current economic climate opinions are changing on a daily basis. In 13 yrs of trading i have never seen a situation like this.

That in no way makes the UK a more attractive investment. House prices are still hugely overvalued. Tomorrow is Bank of Canada rate announcement, the market is expecting unchanged. Then Thursday...

NO but the markets are very illiquid due to a lack of traders willing to make prices, and therefore you tend to get a lot of wild price moves during the summer months and the xmas break.
