Thanks mate. Found both cars on Scumtree. The Mazda was a private sale; the Alfa was from a wholesaler.

I get a fuel allowance, so the commute is affordable as well as scenic.

We have moved the pups to a new school. Their previous school was a Category 2; their new school is a Category 5. The difference is substantial, and the pups are thriving.

The mirror on the mantlepiece scored a facelift as well. It's just an old piece of tat from the 1970s, but a few coats of white enamel worked wonders.

Our faithful Miele W830 started chucking wobblies. I diagnosed a faulty solenoid valve and phoned a local plumber, who quoted $350 for supply and fit.
