Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

People always go on about how I should go to north korea - I've no idea why this, as usually the people that say that are apparatchiks such as yourself. People who approve of surveillance and state...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

And do you know how they do this? It's not full body scanners, intrusive searches, or making people take their shoes off.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

The american intelligence services were told about the 9/11 people and did nothing. They were told about the underwear bomber and did nothing.

The security stuff at airports is expensive,...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

Huh? You'll have to explain this reasoning to me. I know you've been conditioned into thinking like a slave, but where's the logic in this?

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

Funny - you often get apologists for state intrusion. I don't know why. You get the same reaction about CCTV.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

I've got MW3 - but I haven't played it yet (it's in the queue with assassins creed: "more of the same" edition). I'm still playing skyrim after a month - it's stupidly addictive once you get into it...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

You'll have to ignore el_richo as he can be a bit of a snob. He prefers up-scale pretentious restaurants like Wendys.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

There was hose pipe ban in 76. There was also a serious water shortage in yorkshire (of all places) in the mid 90's. They had to ship truck loads of water from elsewhere - I think 1000's of them. ...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

I don't doubt it. My point was that population density is not the cause of water shortages - it's infrastructure.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

As I've said - there is absolutely no need for anywhere in the UK to have a water shortage. Like in Canada, there's plenty of water to go around - the issues are storage and distribution.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

The main culprit is water companies saving money by closing down reservoirs shortly after privatization. There is no reason that anywhere in the UK should be short of water.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

Neither country is the 3rd world, both countries have socialized healthcare. You're going to get just as much variation between two dentists in Canada as you are between one in Canada and in the UK....

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

There's a lot of nonsense about population density. Really - who gives a shit - if you want low density, you can find it in both the UK and Canada, ditto for the opposite.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

I PVR the local news at 6. It's an hour long, but once I've ditched the ads and the boring report on north american sport at the end it's only about 25mins. This is the only Canadian sourced...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

Yeah, there's a lot of crap. You need to look for the good stuff like "monkey dust" - I've been watching them all again on youtube.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

Ok, simply put I think the BBC provides superior content overall to anything on north american channels, whereas you think the opposite. I understand this - everybody has their own personal tastes....

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

I don't understand what you are saying. How is it not a fair comparison?

I have two main ways of viewing TV programs

1 - I PVR stuff and then play it back from my cable box and watch it on my...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

The only way to make a direct comparison is to watch both. Local TV is mainly shit. You think otherwise which is fair enough; each to their own and all that.

Only if you watch live - and who...

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

I've never seen that; mainly cos I used to think that jimmy carr was a bit of a twat. Lately though I've kind of warmed to his style of comedy so I might check it out.

I miss having a pie and a pint at lunch time. A proper pie that is, not one of those things in a dish with a crust on.

Re: Your observations when visiting UK from Canada !

This just isn't true at all. A large number people on this forum still have access to UK TV and watch it regularly. I know I do and I say Canadian TV is shit in comparison. Sure most UK TV is...
